On January 9th, 2009 Moonlight Basin held Montana Appreciation Day. The morning of the 9th Moonlight Basin received 6 inches of fresh snow which helped bring in the biggest crowd Moonlight Basin has ever seen in their 5 year history.

Moonlight Basin and Big Sky together have a joint pass that allows one to go back and forth between the adjacent areas. Moonlight is on the north-northwest side of Lone Peak while Big Sky takes up the east and southeast sides. That adds up to 5500 acres and makes them the largest ski area in North America. The day we went to Moonlight it snowed about a foot and it was practically empty, so we got a lot of untracked powder.
